Hi All. I've googled and searched this forum for info on replacing the crankshaft sensor on a B6, but can't find anything definitive for this model.
I've read that it's probably the wiring to the sensor that is shorting so my questions are:
Has anyone tried to run new wiring from sensor to the ECU?
Is the sensor difficult to replace on a B6?
Is the sensor located behind the oil filter on the block on the B6?
Any info would be greatly received.
Cheers, Dewy.

I'd replace the sensor before re-wiring it.
What engine?
Most of the diesels need the oil cooler housing removed to dig it out.

Firstly, Thanks for the replies.
The car keeps going into limp mode or even worse staying in whatever gear it is in and flashing glow plug light. I'm getting implausible signal on engine speed sensor- G28.
Sorry I'm a bit of a noob with this car and thought B6 indicated an engine type. I've got a 2.0 TDI (2006). Removing the oil cooler housing doesn't sound too hard. ?
Any suggestions on where to buy a sensor? I see you guys are up north so maybe an online store? Or if any Melbournians are reading I'm from Mooroolbark... any suggestions? Incidently, does anyone know the part number for a B6 2.0 TDI crank sensor?
I figure I'll find it when I pull the dud one out, but if I could get one on the way that would speed things up. The wife wants Fritz back on the road!!
Ta, Dewy.
