I had a similar experience in a Golf 7. I *think* it's the auto hold activating at the moment you try to move at the same time. But that's only a theory. Do you have Auto-hold in your model though?
I had situation last day. I was trying to park car in really tight parking spot. Somehow, using front ops sensor i sow front wall was really so close to front bumber. Maybe because lack of contretation i was still pushing car forward instead appling brake on safe distance. And than happened something which i can not explain. Car stopped very hard almost like hit. All of this only 10 cm away off wall. I did not pressed brake...
I checked spec of my car and i pretty sure this model does not have front assistant...so, how explain this?
P.s. sorry for my english. This is my second language.

So what I do in the Golf 7 now, is when I'm parking "slowly" in the way you describe, I unbuckle my seat belt, which disables autohold.
Yes...i know. Is that mean car will stop on safe distance if i do nothing? Becausw i did not apply brake and autohold stop car just 10 cm of wall...
