Electric Brake Controller for towing a camper trailer

    Hi,
Have a 2012 highline and looking at fitting an electric brake controller for towing a camper trailer, weight of approx. 1200 kg's. Has anyone had experience with fitting one of these? Looking at the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite.

    Cheers

The Towpro is the cream of the crop atm but a Tekonsha P3 or Prodigy will do the same for a cheaper price. They just take up more room
They also have slightly better options for settings but at your weight wont really matter too much.
All only have 4 wires to connect May be a bit more complicated in a Passat unless you have the correct towing loom.

DO NOT under any circumstance get talked into the old EBRH Redarc or one of the cheaper HR models

    Thanks for the feedback Hillbilly.
After a bit of research, I'll go for the Redarc tow pro elite as I like the idea of the remote head being easily accessible. I'm thinking of getting an auto elec to fit it to ensure correct wiring and also add an Anderson plug for battery charging of the camper whilst driving. I have a second battery set up with charging outlet in the rear, so will just splice into that for the Anderson plug.
Had the towbar and loom fitted at he dealer from new.

Great brake controller, super simple to install and use. I have one on our Hilux and it's really impressive off road as well as on.

Whatever you do, don't tap into the tail light wiring. It won't work. You need to go directly to the hall sensor on the brakeaster cylinder.

    Thanks Umai,
As mentioned I'll get an auto elec to wire it in, hopefully they know what they're doing.
    Cheers
