Do you reckon that could work for FLAC as well? (Using the USB connector?)
If the player cannot read FLAC files, then what lossless formats does it support?
I use the iPod adaptor so I can use AIFF or ALAC.

The ipod connection interfaces the MDI with an ipod, this will support whatever the ipod will support. If the ipod can support lossless format then it is good to go.
The USB connection for MDI will support mass storage and afaik, will only allow mp3 to play
The Aux input would work with whatever device you have with stereo out. If you have a portable player that can do flac then this is your best bet.
How about if I just use the SD card? What files formats (particularly lossless ones) are supported? If it comes to it, could I re-encode into .WAV? (Which is what I thought CD's were encoded in.)
mp3. are you serious about wanting lossless in a crappy car audio system. I leave my flac playing to a dedicated schiit bifrost dac and schiit headphone amp on my desk.
Well I've got my library in FLAC, so I'd have to convert it to another format anyway if FLAC isn't supported. I'd rather that new format also to be lossless as well. So is MP3 the only format supported? Anyone know if the manual specifies this, or if they've done testing of their own?
Hmm, looks like I'm gonna have to try converting to WMA lossless. There is also CD audio support, but does that mean .WAV support?
I've found a difference when hooking up my Nano with 256kbps AAC vs my iPod Classic with AIFF. And this is just with the basic Tiguan speakers (no Dynaudio option or I would have ticked it).
With the iPod adaptor basically any audio format supported by the iPod will be played through the audio.
I don't have an iPod, nor do I intend on getting one. I have a Sandisk Sansa Clip+ (which supports FLAC) and could connect via USB, however this appears to interface differently to iPods.
I will be getting the Dynaudio option.
Has anyone had experience playing files as WMA lossless or in trying to play .WAV files?
