It would certainly seem that way based on the listings at redbook.com.au
They didn't have "TSI" back then. They had FSI and TFSI. (I know that there wasn't an actual change in tech, it was just a change in labelling). Either way, your comment is the opposite to what the specs say. The TDI and FSI cars were DSG, and the Turbo FSI cars were Tiptronic.
If it's got DSG stamped on the gearstick, it's obviously DSG. The only other way I can think of to tell it apart, is that it has a pan on the front side, and one on the passenger's side of the case.
Also, how do you plan on filling it if it is a DSG? Do you have the procedure for it? Pouring 5L of DSG oil down the hole where the filter lives takes an awfully long time, trust me.

The 2.0T petrol Passat are a 6 speed AUTO gearbox, NOT DSG. Ensure you don't put DSG oil in it as the specification is different. There is a filter in the pan of the auto along with 2 magnets for the attracting the big pieces (if you unlucky). This gearbox is meant to be a lifetime fill, but I'd sugest doing it at no later than 80,000 Kms for preventive maintainace. Before you start, check the two electrical connectors on these transmissions for oil, (the connections should be dry) there's a Feb 2010 TSB on shifting faults caused by oil entering the loom.
