    DSG oil

Just checked the DSG oil dipstick which I thought was the engine oil.
Anyway mine is black. Is that normal?
Also where is the engine oil dip stick?

not sure on dsg oil but i believe that it is a different oil and probably would blacken after some use. engine oil dipstick is a ringpull in the engine bay, probably bright yellow or orange. just pull till it comes out.

Havent seen a dipstick on a VAG tranny since early 096 gearbox in Golf and Audi 80. Think you may be a bit mixed up mate, if you have black oil on a dipstick in your engine bay it would have to be your engine oil

Yes, it's normal for the oil in any diesel engine to quickly turn black, usually less than 1000 km after changing the oil.

This is due to the soot particles which the oil is holding in suspension and prevents it from agglomerating (sticking together), which any properly formulated engine lubricant is designed to do.

I see..coz when I opened the where the oil goes in for service, the oil on the lid was still nice and clear.
I thought the dipstick I checked was the dsg oil.
