i thought this could be changed on the MFD?
The car doors lock when I drive off... no big issue but it anoys the crap outta me when I drop my kids off at school and jump out to get their bags from the back... and the tailgate is locked. I have to go back to the drivers door and unlock the damn thing...
Can I set it up differently?

Its an anti-carjacking feature, and after having a car-jacking in the family (in the Sydenham area of Sydney!) I'll be leaving it enabled, especially with the kids in the car.

yes I believe you can turn OFF the auto lock completely via the MFD but I hoped that I may be able to set the tailgate seperately...
FWIW I like the doors locking for safety too... not just carjacking.. mainly because locked doors stay closed in collisions giving the car better overall strength

I might be wrong but if I remember correctly everything is unlocked when you remove the key fob but stays locked otherwise - you can then use the "Unlock" button on the door to take care of it.

I am the same as you Richdave. The tailgates locks automatically with the remainder of the doors. I have not found anything in the menus to keep it alone unlocked, and I guess if you want to lock the car, you want to lock "the car"...
Like all the others I have SET both up my remote profiles on the MFD (i.e. the wife's and mine) to lock doors at 15km/hr (approx) for security and safety.
I am getting used to manually unlocking all doors from the driver's door pushbutton when alighting from the car. Pulling the key fob out of the ignition does not unlock the doors, not in my car anyway...

On the GTI the convenience menu's let you set the option. I have mine to lock at 15 and unlock when the key is removed. If passengers want to get out try the door handle twice and it unlocks the door or the driver hits the unlock button twice to do all dooors and tailgate / hatch
