I know that they exist on the b7 wagon v6. i saw them on all the cars that i looked at.
Hi all,
Looking to purchase a B7 Passat in the near future. Can someone confirm whether or not Oz delivered Passats have puddle lights integrated into the bottom section of their exterior mirrors? I had these on a previous car (Mazda 6 MPS) and thought they were a neat little feature.
Puddle lights are small LEDs, usually on the bottom of external mirrors, that light up when you lock/unlock your car. They come on in unison with interior lighting. They light up the ground below your mirrors and front doors. Here's a video that I found of a B7 Passat with this feature, but not sure where this video was filmed.
Any help much appreciated.

Generally this is part of the Xenon Light / Memory Seat package.
I had puddle lights on my 2008 Passat 2.0T FSI, however not on my 2010 Passat 125TDI Highline (mind you it did not have Xenons / Memory Seats on this one).

Definitely got them on mine. I am pretty sure they are standard on the B7 model. Interestingly I had a Mazda 6 MPS previously as well but didn't have puddle lights in the mirrors but were located at the bottom of both front doors. These were great but only really work when getting out of the car. When approaching the car they don't do anything until you open the door by which time you might have already stepped in the puddle. Are saying your Mazda 6 MPS had puddle lights in the exterior mirrors?

More opportunites have been lost from indecision, rather than wrong decision....
Thanks for the replies everyone. I finally got around to seeing a VW dealer yesterday, and all the Passats I looked at had puddle lights. This included both wagons and sedans with and without Xenon light package.
It would be nice if the puddle lights were white/blue in colour rather than yellow. Even the Passats I saw with the xenon light package had yellow puddle lights. I know this is fussy, but it would match the rest of the exterior lighting of a car optioned with xenons. I'm certain I saw a Scirocco a few days ago that had white/blue puddle lights, and I'm sure they have the same exterior mirrors as the Passat.
Could always replace the yellow lighths with white/blue ones, but I'm not sure I want to pull the mirror apart.....
I purchased aftermarket mirrors with puddle lights and fitted them to my 6 MPS
How do you rate the Passat V6 vs your old 6 MPS? Im sure the interior is better in the Passat, but what about mid-range punch and rolling acceleration? The MPS was surprisingly quick with big mid-range urge. I still miss that car
The turbo midrange punch is definitely something I miss as is the tremendous low down torque. Where the Passat is better is above 3,500 rpm and off the line is noticably faster. It will take you sometime to learn to drive the car differently ( hold revs longer) & I always drive it in manual mode because in auto it is sluggish. The other thing I have noticed is the MPS was very economical in comparison. In the Passat I average around 11.5 l/100 klms as opposed the 10.5 on the MPS for the same driving.
