Any rason why you just want the oil changed?
I use Castrol Edge Sport 5W30 Longlife 3 504/507.
Hi
What brand/type of engine oil do you use on your diesel engine?
I need an oil change and wanted to know what you guys use in your 103KW TDI's.
I've been quoted $180 just for an oil change!!!
Any thoughts? Anyone knows where I can get it done cheaper?
Thanks

Have you ever done an oil change yourself?
It's not too hard as long as you know the basics. Genuine Oil & Filter over the counter at VW Spare Parts shouldn't cost you much more than $100-120 total, and as long as you use parts that meet the factory spec (which those of course will!) you will retain your warranty even if you do the change yourself.
There are other cheaper oils about, just ensure it meets the VW Longlife standard before you buy. Not all 5w30's are the same![]()
Unfortunately that's not the same as "approved by VW for VW504.00/ 507.00 standard. There is a whole section dedicated to oils fuels. Fuels and Lubricants

If you want to keep your warranty without question, you have to use a dealer, so shop around, that's pretty expensive.
If you are not so worried, use a VW specialist, as it's a good chance your warranty is safe with a respected mechanic.
If you are out of warranty, get some 507 approved oil such as Penrite Enviro for about $80 and a filter from the local VW dealer for about $15, and do it yourself. It's dead easy, and a post on my tinkering begin thread explains where and how.
