They should be able to provide your with your vehicles VIN. This ensures that this doesn't happen and the dealers cant push you back and sell your vehicle to others.

Who is telling you week 32 build means November Delivery???

Well they said week 32 and 6-8 week for transport to Australia.

Therefore Middle of August commence build... end of August finish.

Let's be pessimistic and say 10 weeks for transport.

That makes it middle of November landed.

Then another 2 weeks for prep and delivery and if quarantined perhaps December.

Well it is the worst case because I ordered end of May and they supposedly ordered a week later ie. June 10th or so.

So 6 months is middle of December.

Yoikes, I'd have gone spare if it took that long! Mine was ordered March 16th, built early April, on a boat end of April, arrived here June 17th, picked up by me 30th June.

3 months and two weeks? JESUS! I'd go crazy waiting three weeks! I had mine 4 days from making the decsion to buy it! lol

Funny thing is that the wait was mainly due to me wanting Dynaudio. That they then forgot to spec on the order LOL. The wait also gave me time to sell my old car privately though - got about $5000 more than I'd have got as a trade-in.

I ordered mine in January 2008 and it arrived in June 2008

I think it was even announced for Australia some time between the two dates!

Yeah, but only a week or three before.

I ordered late May and have been told mine is scheduled to be built in week 32 in August. That means late Oct and maybe even November delivery.

What I'm wondering is whether the dealer is shafting me... ie. selling my car that has been built to someone else who wants the same colour and spec... for a higher price than me... so push me back to the next build... etc.???

Is it possible?

I probably would have cancelled if it wasn't for the tax benefit.

They had promised 10 weeks. What to do?

Ask them to give you a screen dump or print out of the VW build system - i git one from my dealer and it tells you the day you signed on the line, the day it was ordered, the day the build is supposed to start, finish etc...the dealer inventory manager will give you this. Once you have this and the build has started, ask them for the VIN number and then track and trace through the shipping company.
