The good stories are out-weighed by the bad stories concerning cars on forums of course, but your experience will leave you with good feelings towards VW, good to hear.
Well, to add to an already pretty ordinary week (separate medical issues with my father, wife and daughter), on Tuesday I had 2 bits of grief with the car.
The first was when reversing out of the driveway at home, and getting a blown globe warning come up. Nothing serious there, RH low beam globe replaced the next day. I suppose 3 years isn't a bad life..
The second was when reversing out of the driveway at the in-laws, and the engine fault light came on. Tried stopping and restarting, still there, engine and car still felt OK so drove it home. Checked again Wednesday morning, and fault light still stubbornly illuminated. I contacted the dealer, they offered to tow it there but when I said that I was happy to drive it, they told me that I could bring it in that afternoon to be checked out. I arrived there about 2:45, and was on my way again with a fixed car by about 4:30 - turns out the exhaust pressure sensor had died and needed to be replaced.
And here's where the credit comes in - not only did they look at it and fix it up relatively quickly, but after they attempted to contact VW for an authorisation to replace under warranty (the car's now at 112,000km), they decided to replace the sensor anyway without charging me for it. I have to admit, it was very appreciated with all the other hassles that we'd had during the week.
Mind you, I've now decided that reversing out of driveways is bad news...
And on other good news, after checking out some of the paperwork, the brakes are only about halfway used, so they should be good to about 200,000km...

Name and shame the dealer. How dare they offer good service?
It's great to hear that you had a good experience with the dealership. Too often people are only motivated to write something when they've had a bad experience, and the good experiences go unacknowledged.
Thanks for sharing.
