    Crack

Hi just wanted to know if anyone else has had this happen or has heard it before. When i turn my sterring wheel to the right to say pull out of a car park it get this loud crack noise that can feel through the floor. It also happens when go over a bump sometimes any hints to what might be? I had taken into VW they said it was like my springs or something was dusty so they cleaned it up but still happened.

if it is the subframe bolts then you would simply identify the bolt part number, purchase new bolts and have your mechanic replace them. they are stretch bolts and single use only so require replacement.

I get this in my 2011 V6 Highline. It's exactly as you describe when puliing into or out of a driveway. It sounds like it is coming from somewhere on the left hand side near the rear door. I had assumed it is just movement in the body (which as far as I know is also the cause of the squeaky rubbers). Please post the outcome of your investigations. If it's caused by springs or subframe bolts, I'll be looking to have it repaired under warranty. Thanks

If it happens when you turn the steering wheel, then it is very likely to be the coil spring snagging on the spring seat.

Some strut suspension systems have a plastic spring seat. This can wear or crack with age and needs to be replaced. It is not something the average owner can do as you will need spring compressors to get the failed but out and the new one in.
