I got a V6 highline, and I have to flick the highbeam stalk, or do my trick of using the remote fob to flick on the leaving home lights... which I find so easy I dont worry about it... maybe there is a difference between the B6/B7 MY11 and the B7 MY12.

MFD is definitely an option on mine for coming & leaving.
You are correct In my TDI the lights go out but the under mirror lights stay on and as I park in a garage always I hadnt noticed.

You do have to set it to ON in the MFD to make them work thought under lights and vision

Might see if I can get it recoded as above for the Golf

FSI220, I have the same car. What trick do you do with the remote fob & highbeam stalk? I assume the highbeam stalk trick is coming home (as you need to be in the car to enable) & the remote fob is leaving home (as you are out of the car to enable)?

I've noticed that if I press the hatch release button on my fob twice (or once if I've already unlocked the car) it makes the headlights turn on.

Flick the highbeam towards you as you exit the seat (having pulled out the key) shut door and lock, then the coming home lights go on... (I think that is it, dont normally use this method).... otherwise, I pull the key out, shut door, hit unlock Leaving home lights go on, I then lock from my verandah...

Either option needs to be set as active from MFD...

    Cheers

Yep, I use the exact same methods, though when using the highbeam stalk for coming home as soon as you flick it toward you (after removing the key) the lights come on straight away before you leave the car. I have mine set for 20seconds...

I am just trying to understand the befit here. On mine if I set the coming home "on" & to 20 seconds, provided the ambient light levels are low enough the headlights stay on after I remove the key. I don't have to pull the highbeam stalk. Is this manual method to overide?

I haven't tried it without using the stalk. I'll give it a try tomorrow but I expect the method you use is the set & forget, where as we have been using the manual method.
