    Clutch replacement for DSG 118TSI

    Hi All,

I am thinking about buying a second hand Passat.

I am concerned about the longevity of the clutch in Passat's. I want to hear from people first hand to see what their experience is. Specifically how long has the clutch lasted for you and if you had to replace it how much did it cost to get replaced?

    cheers,
    Graham

Assuming the Passat 118tsi has the same 7 speed dag as fitted to Skoda Superb 118tsi models you'll probably be somewhat concerned to hear that three of us on this forum with 2012 build Skoda have all had clutch packs replaced (under warranty) at mileage between 20 and 27k. Ours has since done further 15k and fingers crossed is doing ok so far.

Only replacements for a clutch shudder 1st-2nd, otherwise they drive fine. Won't hear of any reports of 7 speed DSG clutches needing to be replaced because they actually fail, e.g: stop engaging gears...

I have done some more research from what I have found it cost approx. $2500 for a clutch replacement and it seems to need to be done every 100,000 or so.
