A cheaper R36 may live on!

HI all, Just found this on carsales.com.au news. Looks like VW are interested in a Jetta 'R' With the biggest animal of a V6 out there, the Lovely sounding, powerful and characterful 3.6 VR6.... Can't wait, it's on my Christmas list.

Volkswagen provides a sneak peek at Jetta R

This statement in the article interested me

Volkswagen's R division was earlier this year reinvented as a separate in-house company (as per BMW's M), which could theoretically free its hands to conjure up more radical creations than it has done in the past.

I'm an optimist, believe me, but the crushing weight of the greenies and new emissions regs might mean the death of smooth, free-revving engines and more and more small-displacement forced-induction engines like the TSIs.

The idea of this car has made my day - I'd buy one... that engine is capable of a lot more power than that...!

Isnt the R36 lump Emission 4(5?) compliant?

My concern would be the balance and weight distribution

    Haha Dyldo good one.

I think the chassis is more than capable, and to be honest I mainly want it for that R36 style sound I'm praying it will have lol.

Well I showed my 'demand' for the product as it said to in the article, I emailed VW and they passed it on for me

Only 206kw? Sounds like it will be detuned a little compared to the 220kw cc/r36. Should be lighter though perhaps.
