First service is 15,000km so you'll be waiting a while.
Hi, Just picked up an R36 Wagon MY09 from Brisbane yesterday. It's fantastic.
I'm thinking of using VW tinting during first service or using 3rd party ie tint-a-car. I've searched this forum and there is nothing specific on Austral VW tints or other places in Brisbane (except one good plug for Bowen Hills Tintacar). I've had a previous good experience at Tintacar Milton but VW seem to be able to match their price now and it is more convenient to get it done with first service. They have "StreetLegal" which is apparently the darkest legal tint.
I'd appreciate if anyone has any advice specific to brisbane. The advice I've seen on this forum has been great so far.

Tint-a-car milton did a good job for me but I think they broke my door card, maybe pulled too hard before they found the 3 screws at the bottom.
(I'd had the car at a panel beater the week before so I cant say for sure)
$395 for Formula One tint.
Oh still waiting for the Qantas points 6 months later
I know i am not in Brisbane but i found VW to be great for the tinting. I am very happy with my car and its the darkest legal tint. Means I have a one stop shop for when anything goes wrong with the car and i can hand it back to vw to fix.
MasterTint at Ashmore on the Gold Coast did my car, opposite Griffith Uni.
I did 15% on my black sedan, looks awesome and a great price... $250

The quote for tinting from VW on my ordered R36 was $595 (on special from $795!) Has anyone ticked this box and can recommend it? Seems very high.
Look at it another way, if you get it done by the dealer and you have problems with the trim later on (rattles etc) from broken clips or scratches they will replace it without any fuss.
If you decided to save a few hundred dollars on your $60-70K car and take it somewhere based on price don't expect to have them accept responsibility when the dealer says to you six months down the track that the clips are broken or a mount damaged and it's not covered under warranty.
And the other point is if one of the windows has to have the tint replaced, with the dealer you can book it through service and have a loan car. With the tint shops you have to drop it off to them and leave it there.
I'm sure you can get the dealer down to $500, why stuff around over a few hundred dollars?
BTW the tint ISN'T through VW, it's through the dealer!
Thanks Maverick - all good points. I forgot to add that 595 + lvt + stamp duty brings the total to just over $800. No matter what the potential for buggered clips, use of loaner cars etc., and despite the purchase price of 65k, $800 drive-away is a load of coin given it is more than three times what I paid for the excellent tinting of my GT4 and Audi.
Again, thanks for the advice (I'll be your wingman any day!)
