    Brake Dust

    New question.... I find there is an enormous amount of brake dust coming especially from the front wheels so far (only done 500km's)

    does this settle down... has anyone changed pads or is there some other way of reducing it?

    I have to admit, I was expecting this to be really bad in the R36 but it hasnt! My old 4-pot Vectra made more brake dust!!!!

    Ahhh the age old brake dust PITA! lol

    You can't whinge about brake dust until you've owned a VE HSV!

    Unfortunately to generate good stopping power, the side effect is brake dust. So it's a compromise. I would recommend pulling the wheels off and fully detailing them and give them a couple of coats of a good wax. The calipers too. Brake dust will have less of a tendancy to stick and be a synch to clean off.

    welcome to OEM VW brake pads

    dont bother going for a less dusty pad as you may well comprimise your stopping power!

    had the same problem with my car for 4 years. i just installed myself a pair of bendix brakes. no brake dust! wish i had done it earlier.

    Yeah, but what's the stopping power like and also the fade? I actually rang Bendix about their pads and whilst the guy I spoke to agreed that there would be less brake dust, he admitted that the originals would brake harder and with less fade. He sort of gave me the inpression that I should stick with the originals.

    You got to love a professional that will basically steer you clear of HIS product when he knows there's a better one available. Good on him!

    lol, its amazing how we can be convinced by just one person saying the right thing at the right time!!

    I have been looking into new clear coatings. There are some already used in Europe in the construction industry where NOTHING will stick to them... you can literally drop a white painted panel with this stuff into mud, pull it back out and it wont stick.

    It is coming for the auto game...

    You will be able to spray this stuff onto anything and it will do the trick!!
