Its typical European pads. All Euro brands are like this, and MB are probably the worst - look at their front wheels when you have a chance to see them.

I used to combat it on a previous car, by putting on tyre shine spray on the rims. It's an oil based spray and the dust gets caught in it, but comes off easily with a wipe when you wash it. The spray also prevents road tar marring.
