Bp diesel ultimate...

My engine is quiter now then before....did not check fuel consuption yet. If someone else expirienced same?

Individual experiences will vary, as perceived combustion NVH differs for every vehicle depending on the engine's age and condition, as well as the level of confirmation bias in the driver.

Not intended to invalidate your observations, but something for everyone to keep in mind.

Having said that, I always fill up with BP Ultimate diesel or Caltex Vortex diesel too. However, I gave up trying to objectively quantify any differences years ago. It was just too hard, as the brain and the senses are easily mislead.

I thought the whole Ultimate/Vortex thing for diesels was a bit of a smoke and covers.

From what I've read, there's a bit of acetone in the fuel so you don't get the oily diesel greasy feel on the handle of the pump. There's also a few cleaning agents in the fuel. I don't know much else more about it but going from my knowledge of diesel fuel/engines there's not much else which helps it be more efficient or ignite or burn better so there wasn't really any likelihood of seeing any significant consumption level changes?

I don't bother too much trying to quantify efficiency improvements from the fuel used. I just try to drive better to achieve my efficiency improvements.

I fueled up United diesel and noticed some increased rattle at idle. I used an additive and topped up with Ultimate and noticed an improvement. I only use Ultimate or Vortex whenever possible.

Probably purely psychosomatic.

I always use bp diesel but they 2 weeks ago thay changed diesel to ultimate. I tried. Of course, i will continiue use same diesel because i am happy with fuel consumption and way how engine works. Currently i am geting 1150km on passat b6 crdi. This is 60% city and 40% highway use. Thank you for everyone input.

Ive used vortex from the same servo for all my diesels and have always noticed if I use United, Shell I get less to a tank.
Bp gets the same or very near similar.

Didn't think there was acetone as all my fill ups mean I use their waterless hand wash!

Now that you mention the United diesel being noisier, I have to agree.
Filled up the other day and have noticed she's rumbling a bit louder than normal.
Its harder to hear the turbo spool up
