    booster seats

Hi, this is my first real post so hopefully it works. I am about to order the Passat 125kW TDI and I am considering buying the booster seats option. What are they like? When in the down position, if an adult sat on the seat would they be able to tell the difference between the booster seat version and the standard one? My main concern is that while it might be fine for my kids, is it comfortable enough for larger people.

    Regards,

    Regards,
Are you refering to the VW genuine one? If so, they are not available in Australia. I rang VW a few weeks ago and apparantly they do not comply as they use an ISO fixing method and this is not good enough for Australia.

There is an option for integrated booster seats, which fold out of the seat squab.

The ISOFIX option you are talking about is a separate booster seat. Could start a whole new thread on the stupidity of ADR's not allowing ISOFIX seats, when they guarantee correct fitment of child seats (apparently 80% of seats are incorrectly fitted in this country - absolution madness)

I thought that the integrated seats were a great idea, but it wasn't an option in the R36.

Volvo also have a similar option.

Have a look on carsales at recent passat wagons - there are a couple of photos of how they look.

I looked at a 08 V6 which had this option when I ordered the R36 - I couldnt notice any difference when the seat was in the "adult" position. They were still comfortable (for hard euro seats!).

    Hope this helps.
Confirmed Global Warming Sceptic. No Longer a VW Owner -Loving my new 2011 Range Rover Sport - bought as VW unable to provide info on the new Toureg despite it being released overseas 12 mths ago. 2008 R36 Wagon, 2006 GTI and 2004 R32 - Gone. Sorry VW, you make great cars but until you improve your customers' experiences you will lose customers

I suspect you may be referring to a different thing, I think the OP is referring to the child booster seat option where the base of the back seat lifts up and back and the sides lift up slightly to form a higher seat for children, they also come with special headrest bolsters, it is curently an $860 option. Have a look at this carhttp://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...wagon&trecs=27

We currently have a highline V6 with the booster seats fitted and they look normal when down and feel normal.(adult sitting on the seat). It is a very cool and handy idea. They even have a hard foot well so the kiddys have somewhere to put there feet with out destroying the rest of the seat.. Hope this helps.

    Hi Cejar,

I have these in my 103kW tdi. My 4 year old daughter uses the integrated booster seat.. she loves it. I have sat on the other side of the rear bench - the seat base is firm but not unduly so. They are a great option if you have 4 to 7 year old kids.

The only problem I have found is that you cant fit a child capsule in the middle position if you are using one of the integrated booster seats - the passat is just not really wide enough to have three child seats across the back bench.

Hi Phillip, i didnt realise this sort of scale was involved! Don't follow up as the cost as you suggest will be huge. Thank you very much for your offer!

    Cheers
