    Battery draining overnight

    Hi,

Has anyone experienced this with their Passat before? I have a 2006 TDI 105kW Passat Wagon. Had a new Varta N22 battery fitted 18 months ago and now find the battery drains overnight.
I charged it overnight the next evening, then drove it during the following day - no probs. Then left it overnight and next morning it was flat again.
There are no obvious cabin lights on or otherwise as far as I can tell. Either the battery must be faulty or there is a short somewhere in the wiring. Any ideas for efficient diagnosis?
Can I disconnect this battery overnight without causing problems to the electronic management system in the vehicle?

    Any assistance appreciated.

    Cheers,
    FG

Disconnecting the battery every night would be a pain, be better to get it fixed... possible its the battery itself but more than likely something draining the system.. Have you any upgrades / accessories fitted that were not standard from factory?? Some times a VCDS scan can point to a control unit not going to sleep like the convienence system, other than that a good old battery current draw test will need to be done..VDUB

I know that there were battery drain issues with certain firmwares and rns. did you happen to update the rns firmware, that is if you have one?
