    The colour temp of factory fitted HIDs will always be at or about 4300k.

    Yep, 4300k for the Bi-Xenon HID's & they are worth every penny over the standard lights.........

    Quick pics of the lights.... I should have cleaned them first....

    * LED Daytime running lights:

    * HID & DRL's:

    Whenever the car is on the DRL's remain on.

    @Riker - Nice! Are lights white when it hits the road or signs? Does it look like to Honda accord euro HIDs?
    Does look white though. Nice.

    Yes, they are white & illuminate the road very effectively. My in laws have a Euro luxury & we both agree the Passats HID's are more effective than the Euro's.

    That's interesting. What generation Euro is it? I wonder if they made some improvements to the HIDs in the Passat between the B6 and the B7? I had a 2004 Euro Luxury before my R36, and I reckon the low beams on the Honda were better.

    The in laws have a current model (MY10)CU2 Euro Lux. We were over there last night actually so had another play & my Passat's HID's definitely have a better spread pattern, depth of light penetration & intensity than the Euro Lux. Maybe it is my car, maybe it is theirs but on a practical note the Passat's HID's seem to be very good. I have also tried my Passat against my parents Merc E350 (MY10) & the measurable qualities are very similar......

    Hi Riker..have you tried using your active cruise control?? is it any good?
    also with the city emergency braking does the car actually stop without intervention if you dont brake less than 35km?

    Im curios

    Yep, I have used the Active cruise & it does exactly as it says. Combined with lane assist on lined roads the car literally steers, brakes & accelerates itself. The lane assist starts beeping after about 10 seconds of inactivity from the driver then the wheel does a little shake. It is odd feeling the wheel steering itself in your hands but you still have control. You get used to it quickly but it is still an odd feeling. It can be disengaged if preferred.

    The emergency braking is a fantastic feature. It will stop the car fully without driver intervention after a few beeps if the speed & distance allow it. If you are travelling to fast to stop completely it becomes an exercise in mitigating the seriousness of an impending accident by slowing the car as much as possible. It will save many from the the silly accidents that often happen.

    I would encourage everyone looking at a new Passat to get these options.

    I have all of the above on mine and second most of the comments.

    However on reading the manual it does state that ciy braking WONT stop you if the car in front is actually stopped.

    Mine has saved me once when I looked down at the radio the first week I had it.

    An idiot stopped 2 cars ahead of me in a no turning area. the car in front of me had braked hard and

    Car slammed to almost a complete stop ABS on hard Steering wheel vibrating and alarms going off.

    Certainly saved me from a bad acident.

    The lights are great and the swivelling function on corners is great as well.

    Adaptive cruise is also very good especially going down to places like Surfers when its busy.

    Only thing is even on the close setting it hangs back too far for Qld drivers and they try and cut in front if you are more than one car length behind the one in front of you.

    One of these is the solution for that

    New BlackVue DR400G-HD Car Black Box Drive GPS 16GB + English Manual | eBay

    Very happy with the car except for the nearly useless Satnav.

    The stop start function works good and if you anticipate the lights a bit takes off fairly quickly.

    Even not doing so is faster than the old farts around here ( Im one as well but not a slow one ) LOL
