    B7 passat tdi owner

How many times has your DPF light come on since buying the car? and how many times did you have to do a
'Need for Speed' run to clear the light?

Mines popped up about 6 times now since buying the car. The light started appearing at around 9495km what about yours?

    care to share your experience?
if dealer looked at it what did they do and said?

No DPF light ever during ownership

I've heard the revs at idle become a little higher on perhaps 3 occasions? but that's about it.

Driving conditions have been quite mixed, probably more sitting in traffic than anything else though. I'm not afraid to give it some revs (crack the ****s a lot) but drive sedately most of the time.

Never on mine - 19000k's so far.

Shortest run I do is 15minutes with 80 and 100k section. Through town is only a couple of minutes with only 2 sets of lights, but lots of times the passat sits at home and is used mainly on weekend runs which always includes plenty of highway running. don't know if this makes any difference or not. TBH, I'm over the whole thing. I was listening to a motoring journo the other day saying they were talking to someone from VW Australia (a woman I think) and she commented that Australia is just killing their cars at the moment - something to do with our speed limits. Not sure what was meant by that, but anyway.

And while talking about speed limits, good to hear that QLD has finally admitted that increasing speed cameras- including fixed, mobile and more redlight cameras that also double as speed cameras- are all about revenue. They were so excited about this as it would increase revenue by estimated $22million - but not a word about increasing road safety or saving lives! So there you go. Maybe they should get rid of demerit points, then they could just keep fining, fining, fining - imagine how that would increase the revenue! End of rant- sorry.

Forgot to mention, I've always run Morey's smoke killer since new as well.

    6,000kms and never.
use to be an issue with teh Subaru diesel we had, but not the Passat.

but then again, we always do our long trips in that car.

I know on the subaru in the manual it stated that the car had to be running over 80km/h for more than 20 mins to do a DPF purge....
where in metro cities can you ever achieve that???
More opportunites have been lost from indecision, rather than wrong decision....
