A dealer wants to sell me a demo MY12 TSI Wagon w no options (candy white) at $35000. It has done 5800kms. Am not sure if it's such a good deal? It's already depreciated a year, and its missing the RVC, auto tailgate & satnav.

Thinking there will be more deals on the last MY12 Wagons now when the MY13 comes out?

That's not too unreasonable, although you might get a MY13 brand new (ie. With GPS, RVC and power tailgate) for about $40k if you use a broker. It depends on if you want to fork out the extra $5000 for a brand new car with more feature. Just bear in mind, the warranty have already started on the day the car was registered.

Does there exist any shared 'what price did you pay' spreadsheet for passat, as I've seen for the Golf? Will prob try to get a MY13, so would be good to see what others have negotiated.

I'm about to pick up a MY12 118tsi wagon in the next few days. Ex general managers car with 3k kms on it. $2000 worth of options/accessories and i'm paying $38,888. I think i could have got a better deal but i think i was a little overwhelmed as it is my first newish car ive ever bought from a dealer. I cant wait to pick it up!

Some info for everyone out there in the market place for a Passat. I have recently been quoted $58 - 59k including ORC in NSW for an MY13 V6 with the Corporate plus / National fleet discount (with metallic paint being the only option as the MY13 comes with lots of good fruit standard). 118TSI MY13 with met paint is coming in at around $40 - 41k. All this without having to do any haggling, just show them a letter from my Fleet admin at work showing the entitlement for National Fleet discounting.

This leasing company quoted a 125TDI drive away at:
    $40812 - sedan
    $42600 - wagon
Novated Lease Calculator | Fleet Partners
(just select the make and model on their lease calculator, they'll show you their price).

I wonder if this is GST excluded price as you don't have to pay GST when leasing. But if GST included, that's cheap!!

Looks like there's a good number of brand new MY12 TDI Highline sedans on carsales.com.au at the moment, so they should probably be easier to talk down a bit now that the MY13 prices and features have been announced.

If you did your research, knew the going rate, were aware of what was available at the time you made your decisions and are happy with it then it is a good deal for you!

Life is too short to waste second-guessing yourself after the fact . . . in my experience, you will always see a better deal if you look hard enough BUT the one you got may have been the best one at the time you did it.

Now, go for a drive and enjoy your new car!

Depend on your trade in. If you just traded a 1 yr old Porche 911, I'd say you got a bad deal. If you traded in a 20 ear old falcon, yes, you got a good deal. My gut feeling is, your old car is worth more than $5000 if you go private sale or auction it. I suspect that is just whole sale price the dealer quoted you.
