I'm looking at an MY11 TDI Wagon - what sort of discount should I be looking for from RRP (which is over $50k in the road in Australia)?

    Thanks in advance.

$49,000 drive away is unbelievable value - you've managed to knock off $6,402!

I picked up the price list from a local Melbourne VW dealer today and according to the following:

Passat Wagon 125TDI Highline On Road: $50,952
Deep Black Pearl Effect Paint: $700
    RNS510 Satnav + Reverse Camera: $3,000
    Auto Tailgate: $750
TOTAL: $55402 (excluding xtras like full tank/rubber mats)

Can I ask if this is an ex-demo car or a brand new one they had in stock?

Brand new off the boat mate. The car is currently going through compliance as we speak.
I really wanted the Xenons as well, but there were simply none (not even any on the way over) available with the other options I wanted unless I got a Sunroof as well. Definitely don't want a Sunroof so had to deal with losing the Xenons idea unless I wanted to wait for 6 months+.

The price was including the Corporate Plus discount FYI.

Ahhhh .... the Corporate Plus discount. Pity I'm a private buyer. Oh well, I should be able to haggle something off the RRP. Enjoy your new car Dopey and let us know how you go with it.

Have you spoken to your VW dealer about the Corporate discount? Your employer may be registered with VW and therefore you may be eligible for the discount. If you haven't asked already, definitely make the enquiry! Private buyers are indeed eligible if the persons employer is registered for the discount

Buzy_Robot...I traded an 03 Mazda6 sport (looked great) for a 125TDI Passat 08 wagon. The big difference you will see over the petrol is TORQUE, make the car so much more pleasurable to drive, as that's what you'll do, drive heaps between visits to the gas station. Best car I've every had, great fuel economy and you never want for more power, unlike the M6 which was often breathless when you'd like some more go! Go the TDI I say!

Excellent feedback WestOiler125 - that's exactly the sort of useful info I need to know moving from a Mazda6 to a VW Passat. It'll be interesting to see what sort of changeover price I can negotiate. That's about 3 weeks away as work is full on at the moment!
