    B7 Passat Buggy Driving Light

    Hi Guys,

Just noticed that the front driving light on the passenger side is working on its own, but when the main headlights turn on, it turns itself off. The front driving light on the driver's side works fine. Anyone come across this glitch? Looks like it might be my first warranty repair as a year of ownership hasn't uncovered any other real concerns with my 125TDI sedan.

Just to be clear. which one of the two available lights on the passenger side are you referring to?

The outer most is the actual fog light I think & the inner one is for static cornering which operates based on whether your headlights are on & your indicator/steering angle triggers it at low speeds.

MJW - you're a star! You've saved this drongo from making a fool of himself at the dealer!

Going on your comments I double checked the driving lights and depending on the direction of the steering wheel, they would turn on and off. Steering wheel in the straight ahead position and neither driving light is active. Turn the steering wheel to the right or left and one or other of the driving lights will light up.

The Passat is just too clever for me!
    Thanks again.

Glad I could offer some help. There is a lot to learn with these new cars. It took me the first month or two to realise that I don't have to hold the key in the depressed position until the car starts. You simply depress & let go & the car will start automatically provided your foot is on the brake.

Learn something new every day! Was doing press-and-hold too . . . must be holdover from my turn-and-hold-the-key-to-start days.

Its interesting that you say that... My Octavia cuts out if you let the key go before its started!!

I got the feeling not too many people knew about that because when I went to a VW dealership to have a look at the new CC I mentioned that to them & he said he never knew that & has been with VW for years.
