B6 Passat 103kw TDI Major Service 7 years old

Have car in for service today, it is 7 years 3 months old and has done a lazy 86,000km. Getting timing belt done and water pump. Front brake pads need replacing for the first time, so can't complain. Recently did new battery myself.

Two extra items need replacing - one front driveshaft boot as it has split and leaking oil.

Both front suspension sub frame bushes have also split and need replacing as well.

Looks like could be an expensive day.

Are the bushes and driveshaft boot normal items that could need replacement given the age of the car?, or should last longer? My wife's baby Merc is 12 years old and has never had any bushes / boots replaced at all.

Understand rubber hardens with age etc.

    Thanks
