Yep, you are right there booba. Was looking for the red faced emoticon but I think this one covers it..... I was so focussed on my car I didn't even consider or recall the changes to MY13 Passats standard equipment.

Anyway, back to my original advice Float, if you are looking at a demonstrator or second hand Passat try your best to find one with the auto tailgate.

I love it and the ability to just press the button and walk way. Usually I am seated by the time that it closes

Cheers. Looking at the R36 actually but will just find one with factory fitted option. Sounds like a cool feature to me and very practical.

Mine had the same problem of only opening about 60% of the way (it would stop right at forehead-whacking height!). It was eventually fixed by the dealer under warranty. They had to replace the control module. I don't know what that is, but they needed the car for the whole day to do the swap.

I reckon it is one of the best features, and I wish my RS wagon had it...

I carry boxes etc for work, and it would be so handy to have the feature so I do not have to put down all things I am carrying to the car just so I can open the tailgate, then pick up everything again...

BUT... I really wish it had the feature as on the CC, where one just waves the foot under the rear wheel to open the tailgate! Now that is smart design thinking....
