    Well,

    It looks like the White instrument cluster upgrade was for the "R36" and possibly for the CC only?? I haven't yet seen a standard passat with the White Cluster.??

    Mine is definately an MY09 as it has the RCD510 touch screen radio. MY08 passats had the old monochrome non touch screens. This was one of the main reasons I made sure I got the My09. Saying that My passat was built in the first Month of MY09 production. July 08 I think. From what I gather, VW year upgrades run from the middle of one year to the middle of the next year.
    The MY10 upgrade should be available very soon.

    I still have 3000km to go before the first service and I will be asking my dealer if they can sort out what would seem to be a 5 minute software change.

    If anyone happens to be taking there car into a dealer, it would be great to ask the question and post a response here.

    I don't think July was the start of MY09 as July was when the R36 was released in Australia and there are plenty of MY08 R36 Passats getting around. Pretty sure MY09 production started later in the year.

    But maybe the Model Year of run of the mill Passats is different to that of the R36.

    I checked on this specifically as I placed my order for a new R36 Wagon yesterday!!

    The R36 that were built up until Aug 08 did not have the Full MY09 functions. The other main batch to aus were built in Dec 08 and these are full MY09 specs. I needed to be sure of this as the red display is useless if you are colourblind and then wear polarised sunnies. My friend has the red display in his Treg and I was ever having to lift the sunnies to read the MFD

    Hi Guys,

    Sorry to drag this Thread up again,

    Just had the 30,000km Service and rememberd to ask the dealer if they could change the AUTO HOLD to ""always on"". Picked up the car and they said it wasn't possible. According to some of you guys who play with the VAGCOM it is. I argued which them that others on this forum would be able to reprogram the Car.

    They claimed to have no information available from Germany to assist, but eventually caved onto saying, If you can tell us the Channel number of the Auto Hold, then they would be happy to change it for me and give it a go!

    So, the question to all you VAGCOM experts is, what is the channel I need to get changed to make this happen?

    Much appreciated

    Rotelman.

    This has nothing to do with VAGCOM and the dealer is clueless! It's in the MFD, at least it is in my Passat. I can set the auto hold to be on or off by default at startup and mine's a MY09.

    AFAIK there was both the red MFD and White MFD in MY09 cars, when I bought my R36 in Feb 09, the dealer had just taken delivery of the first White MFD car they had seen, this was produced in dec 08. The dealer did not know of the change in advance as it was a "mid model" change.

    as per previous posts, apparently if you have the Red MFD you cannot have the auto hold set to on automatically, the white MFD you certainly can and I love it!

    to work out what MY your car is have a look at the VIN, the red highlighted number will indicate the MY that it is, with the MY10 cars being "A"
    WVWZZZ3CZAE080763 = MY10
    WVWZZZ3CZ9E088644 = MY09
    WVWZZZ3CZ8E095918 = MY08 etc

    Having said that it doesn't change when they do an update like the MY10.5 recently as my VIN just has an "A" like the MY10 cars....or obviously when they changed from white to Red MFD in MY09 cars.

    So is mine, but Caddyman is correct. I have the orange MFD which doesn't have the Auto Hold option in the menu. So, going back to the topic, does anyone have info on which channel Auto Hold is for an MY09 -1st series Passat..?

    Cheers

    Sorry to dig up an old post, but did anyone workout the coding to enable auto hold to be default to on for 08 models?

    Thanks in advance.
