well i figure, this is how the exhaust is setup on the R32, with the flapper opening a hole after the last muffler...

in essence, opening that blanked-off hole in the muffler would increase the exhaust outlet by 50% of its current size. hell, you could even put a flap on that outlet if you were really keen

also seems like it would be easily reversible if you didn't like the sound.

i might go see an exhaust shop this week, but was hoping that someone here might have already done this so as to give an idea of how it sounds in real life.

Dropped my car off to have the rear mufflers replaced with Lukeys
Manager rang and said in their opinion the car was quiet with mufflers removed and fitted just with straight pipes.
Picked up the car and while it sounded awesome the drone is bad so they are fitting the Lukeys as I wanted on Monday

Although i dont have an R36, i have near on the same driveline in the Skoda Superb V6 Wagon 3.6lt, and i have recently had a Custom Stainless exhaust made up by HiTech Mufflers in Sydney. For me the Superb was so restricted and silent.

After using a GPS 0-100 timer before and after ive seen a .7 sec drop so to me it was $$ well spent as the Wagon is now totally unique and sounds fantastic.

Took my car back to have the replacement mufflers fitted like I originally wanted.
Doesn't sound like a Commodore V6 anymore but more like a BMW 6 now
Nice deep tone and not too loud
I'm really please how it turned out
Basically I had the stock rear mufflers replaced with Lukey offset straight through mufflers

Just out of curiosity, R34. How much did it set you back?

    Just a little update
Still really pleased with the way the car sounds
Missus came home smiling the other day because as she stopped at a set of lights the other day a Territory pulled up next to her and the driver said "hey nice note that car makes".
He must've been listening as she took off from the previous stoplight. Nice to have an unsolicitated comment like that.

    Any chance of a video?

$600 for a reasonable improvement in sound seems pretty good. I can't find the muffler you mention on the Lukey website - any tips?
    R36 =
