    anyone modified the exhaust on the R36?

    Looking for experiences on those that have modified the exhaust on their R36, not much info available for this model. TIA

    Go to youtube. Be prepared to pay insane money for a couple of kw's.

    I have been going through this whole saga for weeks now and the ones that are doing cat back only and gaining well not much. Speaking to a few performance places and other who I won't mention to get any real gains you need to change the cats to real high flow cats (there are high flow cats and there are high flow cats) The problem with changing them on the R36, is the the oxygen sensors are situated after the cats so its going to throw a light or two or maybe even make you walk home.

    So putting a 3 inch system from cat back to me sounds a waist of time when what really is resticting your flow is the cats, I have been for a drive in a cat back r36 and sure its sounds a little better but performance ???

    I have asked VW and other people who have experience with VW's and the likes of you plug in ECU guys and no one can at the moment as far as I know disable the oxy sensors.

    So I have decided just to put my car on a dyno on monday check the KW and torque etc, get the ECU done then put it back on the Dyno, and hopefully gain something, if not the ECU fella will refund the $$$'s.

    If any one knows different please respond.

    Ohh if you want more performance I was quoted 18g's for twin low pressure turbos.

    As changing the exhaust gains very little for high cost I'm considering changing just the rear mufflers just for a hopefully better note without drumming

    R36 + 18G = second hand 911........

    I am looking at changing my Evolve exhaust back to stock. I have specially custom made high flow cats for the R36 sedan. If anyone is interested, PM me and we can do a swap deal.

    But what you said is through, the cat is actually one of the main culprits restricting the flow.

    Sloutch, does the high flow cats trigger off the warning lights due to the oxy sensors ?
