I've read that the exhaust is already very good, that is flows well, better than the R32 which alot of people make the mistake to think its the same but I've been read its not. Your right gains for buck aren't worth it. However a sweeter exhaust note would be welcomed. Any recommendations on rear exhaust that suits a prestige car?

Yes, it does trigger off the engine warning lights. However, correct me if i'm wrong here, i reckon after you install the cats, bring it to a tuner and they will be able to remedy that.

even the guys at Evolve thought it was a funny reason.
Well, to each of his own preference to be honest. For me, like what i told many people, i have owned Evos, Skyline GTRs, i wouldn't mind having that exhaust note on those cars but on a nice VW R36, i think it is a little loud for me. I know most people love the exhaust note but i guess i'm just over it.

At the moment i'm looking at changing the evolve exhaust back to stock. So for those who are interested in the Evolve exhaust, feel free to PM me and we can work something out. Thanks.

So far the People who are doing my tune and others I have spoke to are telling me it can't be disengaged other wise I would have had it done a long while ago.

If any one knows different please let me know would love to have high flow cats which I'm sure will give a much nicer note too.

I have a Gruppe M CAI on my R36 and gives it a nice growl, but as for their design, mmm! needs work.

The Gruppe M by itself does give it a nice note. As far as i know, getting a good high flow cat is rather expensive. The one i have is a high quality 100 cell cat. It does make the car sound different as compared to the other R36 i met.

Your right there the high flow cats I got quoted and sounds about right with the 100 cell thing is approx $400 each. So with your cats Sloutch when they triggered the light on your dash did it effect the how the car ran ?

No, so far i have no problems with how the car is running at the moment. The only thing i'm worried about is the air/fuel mixture in the engine. I have yet to return to my tuner for that.

May i ask where did you get a quote for your high-flow cats?

    Hey guys,

I got my exhausts done early this year and simply had the rear mufflers replaced.

I had a set of hotdogs put in (discretely) and had a new set of larger diameter tips installed. To look at the car, you would not know it has been done as you cannot see the mufflers and the tips are only slightly bigger.

I was at the exhaust shop when they cut the mufflers off and it sounded very nice and not excessively loud with no rear mufflers at all.

When the mufflers were installed, there was a terrible drone problem. I then had them slip some inserts into the mufflers and now it sounds just right and I love it.

By the end of the year I am actually going to change the mufflers to the X-force mufflers that have the remote controlled butterfly which makes them bi-modal between stock DB and straight through.

    Have attached some pics.

Nice idea. Cheaper than a full exhaust. What about drone?

The bi-modal X-Force ones would be the best bet...

With the inserts in, there is absolutely no drone now.

surely that would be restricing the airflow with negative effect on performance? Modding exhaust on an na is a tricky deal. I had a 3rd liberty and spent 4k on a full custom exhaust. It sounded amazing and inccreased mid to high end power but low down torque suffered. Always a trade off in an na. But restircting the ends not gonna help.
