You should ask the sales manager to see if there's any in stock anywhere in Australia - at another dealer. Won't have to wait as long for it to be fixed.

After an extensive interview by lady receiptionst (bitc%^&*) about my gear box and she didn;t have a clue where the gearbox..
She talked rubbish ex: after a while the car is like that.. you mean I need to change my VW every 3 years..??

Just had the Mechatronic unit replaced in mine after almost 12 months of "discussion" with the service department at my friendly VW dealer. Took about 4 weeks to get the unit on backorder from VWA, so not too bad.
Running like a dream now.

How sluggish was it? Are you referring to the delay in changing gears?
Mine is sluggish to change when under light acceleration.
It changes quick when you give it more juice.
