No traffic with VW at all as far as I have found.

A $38 boot mat from Supercrap cut to fit worked for me until my proper one arrived and I then put it on top of the expensive one.

Have seen them on Ebay at times and from a place in USA but postage would be horrendous. It cost me about $24 to post the foam one to Vic

I have 3M film on the rear bumper and door sills to stop scratches.

You can buy cut shapes for the door handle recesses fairly cheap from a guy in Canada that would stop fingernail marks under the handles. I have a couple of metres of it ATM that I might cut some out of Its $30 a metre for 300mm wide
Thanks, I'm now trying to work out do I go to Clark rubber or get the one from VW.

Thats a great idea about the 3M trick.. I will look into this..

Dam about the no traffic, as I use this a lot on the tomtom to get around..

When active, it should disengage the clutch when the car is rolling (I think at any speed) and engages when you touch the brake or accelerator.
I always use the coasting function - magazine testing shows it saves a considerable amount of fuel. For all its distractors (my comment to the dealer when I test drove the Passat was that it was a great car, just needed a proper manual gearbox) the DSG gearbox is pretty good at selecting the appropriate gear when you touch the brakes to reengage the driveline and you get useful engine braking. Using the flappy paddles also disables the coasting function, great for going down the twisties.

My preferred setup is start/stop on but auto hold off. Auto hold seems to make the restarts a bit dim-witted on flat/gentle slopes but it is useful if you are facing up a particularly steep hill. Once the engine is stopped all you need to do is just ease the pressure off the brake pedal ever so slightly (so the car is still held on the brakes) and the engine will restart but the car will not move at all. A bit of practice and it becomes second nature restarting the engine a moment or two before the light turns green.

Car is always garaged a d only travelled 5000kms since january. I haven't got any scratches on the car so far not even around the door handles from opening the doors with rings on. It's the wife's car and she not at picky as me when it comes to parking the car so it might just be a matter of time...
