Thread: Alltrack in the snowies.

  1. #1

    Alltrack in the snowies.

Took our alltrack for its first proper drive. Headed down to the snowies with wife, 2 kids and a good load in the back.

It did a fantastic job. Low fuel use, easy freeway driving and very comfortable.

For a bit of fun we took it onto some pretty pokey 4wd tracks to see what it could do and was very surprised how capable it was. Managed lumps, bumps, tree roots, etc without fuss. Had a wheel in the air at one point. Only bottomed out one time when I was being a bit optimistic. Still made it through though!

    Have a great day, C

Good work, we're off to Thredbo next week- heading from Bendigo so a long drive. Compared to my GTI we get a lovely smooth ride on the Alltrack and very happy with the powerful diesel engine...

It was pretty sure footed on snow covered roads.... except when I turned the traction control off for a bit!

hi all, how is the alltrack I'm thinking of getting one.. just trying to justify the extra $$

Never drove the standard passat but I was looking for something with a bit more clearance and awd that wasn't an outback! Am really happy with ours. It's not a fun car to drive as such but it's awfully hard to fault as a family hauler. C

Finally test drove the Alltrack last week, but my wife isn't liking the price. Trade-in on my Scout was low-ball as well, which didn't help at all - so bad that it would need to be at least $5k better to tempt us.

Compared to the Scout the Alltrack was noticeably quieter with better pick-up. It has better rear legroom and a little more width, but also doesn't seem as nimble as the Scout. The lighter steering probably has an impact there too.

Still trying to convince my wife - although she keeps mentioning Volvo too.

if anyone makes it to the snow (andrew!!), make sure you post up some pics.

I want to take my RS4 to Thredbo for a photoshoot, which would involve a train ride from Perth to Melbourne and then a drive up via Falls Creek etc

Don't go by the sticker price. We were given $6.5k with barely any negotiations. I'm sure VW would be going to some length for a sale these days.

Ta - the $5k would be on the trade alone (and I'm not being stupid with what I'm expecting). My wife is the bigger problem "why do we need to spend $50k n a new car?"

Roger that Gareth (assume you are on ski.com.au as well?), will take a few snaps of the Alltrack (Icelandic Grey) in Thredbo when we arrive Sunday Arvo- conditions looking good with a 30cm dump overnight
