    The turning ones are in the bumper with the indicator yeah?

    What the HID lights do when you start the car (whether the lights are on or not) is a self leveling check to determine what height to set themselves at. They go all the way down, out, in, and back up to the level suitable based on the load in the car. Any weight in the back or the boot is going to mean the nose of the car is higher and without a self leveling calibration every time, the lights could end up pointing at oncoming traffic and dazzling other drivers. It's why it's illegal to have HIDs without a self leveling, projector headlight system.

    no they at the same level as the main lamps, behind the glass.

    turn on the engine and low bem, then turn on the indicator ( or turn the wheel) you will see the extra halogen come on.

    i think you are thinking about front fog lights in the bumper? ( i dont have them they are an option)

    no i don't have fog lights (R36) and the front light assembly where the indicator is is twice as wide as the indicator... bugger it, i'll go out to the garage and check now. brb lol

    ok - yup! it's the hallogen in the main assembly that sits sorta behind the parker.

    Speaking of the parker. Tried to change over to white LED globes and they come on briefly but then go off. Put the normal globes in and they don't come back on until I restart the car.

    I'm thinking the car must think with such little power being drawn by the LED that it's blown so cuts power to it. Anyone have any ideas?

    i had trouble even getting to those parker globes so gave up.

    if what you say is the issue, the only solution is to fit a resistor ( 33 ohm, 5W) across the power in parallel with the globes - messy indeed.

    Those parkers were simple for me to get at. They slide in at an angle (towards the front grill sort of) and just pull out with the plastic tab that their socket is connected to.
