    Adding Cruise Control

First post in this category! Does this mean that the A4/Passat doesn't ever need troubleshooting

    Here's a little upgrade I've just done:

Cruise control can be easily added to any tdi or petrol car that has a drive by wire throttle. You need to replace the indicator stalk with one that has the cruise buttons, and then wire this through to the ECU. I used all orginal parts so it's just as if it was fitted at the factory - even the cloth loom tape is genuine...

Here's how it looks from the inside - the stalk and cabling has been added:

Not much to see on the other side - only the connections to the ECU (top right):

You'll need a good manual (I use the Bentley) to deciper the wiring, and then vagcom to enable the function in the ECU. Total cost around $120.00. Cheaper than ordering it as an option!

    Congrats on first post!

You only posted that second pic to upset me! The first pic looks like the flight deck of the "Millennium Falcon" when Chewie had problems with the shields.

When you get a minute drop over to Oz and help me sort out this starting problem.....

Sorry Brackie didn't mean to upset with the TDi picture!

Read an article last week about how diesel sales in Australia are really taking off - 50% of Golfs are TDi, 40% of Jettas, 30% of Passats and 35% of Polos. It is a real shame that they didn't start selling them in Australia earlier. I've done 6000km in the Passat now and average consumption has been under 5l/100km. It's a 99 model and now done 185,000km.

Keep posting about the starting problem - sounds like it's some electrical gremlin.
