1 litre per 7,000km is way too much. Did you ask to read their technical specifications they say it's within tolerance of?

Many people would be happy with 200ml oil consumption. It is negligible, consider that it was oil consumption of 200ml based on the oil dipstick reading (not properly measured).

I've topped up with about 750ml in the last 13,000km or almost 12 months, I'm putting pressure on to go on an oil consumption test. 103kw diesel. Will report back after service on 29 April.

I didnt challenge the dealer as I am selling the car when my 118tsi arrives in August. In the meantime I have got used to checking the oil level every week or so to make sure it doesnt get too low..

I'm sure I will... more interested in finding out why my Passat is living up to my user name he he. Even though I am checking the oil level once a week I am still carrying the rec. oil around with me as well in case the low oil level warning light comes on. If VW say that rec. service intervals are 15,000 the vehicles should be capable of doing that without oil top ups being required. I know that the dealers do free top ups if required what if you are not close to a dealer. My wife's Merc doesn't use a drop in its 15,000 or 12 mth intervals. has the been any difference b/w the pumpe duse 103kw's and the common rail 125kw's? Glad I went the 3 year extended warranty.
