    Red face 2006 Passat

I have just bought a 2006 passat 2.0 FSI vehicle. I hjave found that when I shift into reverse mode, there's only one reverse light at the back (the left side). The dealer most european car has one reverse light. But I still don't understand. Anyone can tell me this is true and tell me the reason, please?

A big welcome to you Hing. I hope you enjoy the forum. Yes, one reverse light is right. The other side has the high intensity taillight in it. The reverse light is plenty strong enough tho. Cheers and welcome once again, Andrew

Thanks Andrew for your reply. I am glad that it's not a fault. However I will think that if the reverse light (on the left side) somehow is block while reversing (eg parking to the left hand side), then cars at the back may not be able to see, it's more safe to have two reverse lights.

True Hing but a lot of cars only havr one reverse light these days. A fair few of the Subarus for one. To connect up the other one would mean that it would throw a bright red light from the rhs. It is a difficult one, I agree and I have thought of someone not seeing the light on my GTI, but what can you do? Cheers, Andrew

Smaller more ergonomic tail light clusters lead to this syndrome.
I`m assuming you only have one rear foglight too? Thats saving one light on either side of the car and results in smaller clusters. I like symmetry though personally.

Thanks all. Yes my passat has one rear fog light on the right hand side. After all, I found the Passat is a comfortable car it has got a lot of safety features. Thanks again.

    Welcome!

Welcome to our forum! You're our first member with the new Passat. Isn't the car amazing value for money? When I bought my TDI in June I looked longingly at the Passat TDI but couldn't stretch the $$s. I even took one for a test drive and loved it (except for the DSG 'box).

During the delivery inspection I too noticed the single reversing light when I picked my Golf up. I asked the salesman to get it fixed and was given the info.

Keep us updated on your feelings for the car.
