Congrats on the new car mate. I picked up my new Passat CC last week and can't stop driving it. I have already had the Fiscon Basic Plus installed. Had it done at No Limit Electronics in Sth Melbourne - $895 installed.
I am having a lot of trouble finding someone who is willing to code it for me. VW dont want to know about it as they are saying that if they muck it up there will be all sorts of warranty issues. One of the guys in the service department referred me to Volkspower who are going to have a look at it for me next Tuesday. Will let you know how it goes. Enjoy driving the new beast.

The No Limits dudes are installing mine Thursday morn - $120 installed - I bought the unit direct from Kufatec.

How do u mean 'code it' ? I was hoping the NoLimits ppl would vagcom it all as well !!!!

Dont rush to Volks -- I may have a better option if u can explain what the prob is

    Cheers

No limits told me they could do the coding VAGCOM - but when I picked up the car they informed me they couldn't do it and to take it to VW "who will gladly do it in a couple of minutes". No Luck. I just need to get it coded so as I can use the steering wheel controls and see the caller info on the MDI screen in front of me. At this stage I have it booked in with Volkspower for next Tuesday.

Hmmm .... thats a problem .... I dont want to get up early & get there at 8:30am only to find that they wont do the whole job. I asked if they could fit & install it foe me & I (like you) assumed that they would code it as well.

I think it's a bit rich that they sell & install it but cant make it work

Did u get a price from VP ?

    Cheers

yeh mate it works. I have access to phone book and call lists on the RNS510. I just want to have full control from steering wheel as well. Sound through the car stereo is great and have had no complaints regarding echoing.

Hmmm .... well I got mine done by No Limits today. I mentioned that I wanted it coded as well and the guy said that my dealer could do it easy - I said that it wasn't that easy & he mentioned Essendon or Sth Yarra would do it easy. When I expressed skepticism he mentioned they had a guy nearby who could do it.

2 hrs later he rings and says it was ready - it paired with my HTC HD, started reading the fonebook and I manually entered the workshop number & LO !!! it worked !!!! I drove off and tried a few things during the day - the results:

    • I had to f@#% around with the bt settings to make calls from the headunit
    • I cannot pickup incoming calls from the RNS at all
    • I can sometimes answer on the handset & it comes thru the stereo
    • Contacts are available but weird sorting - some 1st/Last name - some Last/1st
    • Radio etc mutes fine, Sound is good in the car & others say it sounds OK
    • No steering wheel controls at all :-<
    • Hangup on the headunit dont always work
    • There is NO MFD options for the Fiscon in the menu as the manual expects to be

All in all I am left with a partially functioning unit and without full integration

As the dealer will be keen to get my servicing business I hope they will do the Vagcom bits - will ask tomorrow. What would piss me off ia having bought the Fiscon from No Limits (should be changed to Some Limits ) that you then have to go elsewhere to finish the job.

The potential is there ---- just not complete

    Cheers

Geez mate. I haven't had the trouble you are having. Both my nokia and my iphone work perfectly with the RNS unit. I can answer and terminate calls with the touchscreen. My phone connects automatically everytime i get into the car. As for the menu options on the MFD - i don't think they appear until it has had the vagcom coding.
The guy at Volkspower asked me if i had imported the unit as he was unable to code a unit in a R36 the other week that had been imported. I am under the impression that all the units are imported whether that is directly to the customer or through someone like No Limits.
South Yarra were not helpful in coding - they wanted $140 and wanted the car for the day.
I would suggest trying a different phone and seeing what functionality you can get. Good luck mate and i will let you know the outcome of the coding at VP on Tuesday.
