1998 Passat(s)

Hey all, As i posted in the A4 thread, im coming back to Oz and am wanting to buy an A4 or a Passat (you see them everyday here and they both really grow on you!!!)

Now, what my question is:

Im looknig to buy a 1998 - 2000 Passat, but I have no idea which is the pick of the bunch

1.8turbo
1.8 non turbo
2.6????

Which is the most reliable, i.e. not cost the earth in parts or labour

Which version has had the best reviews?

Theres a few here in the Canberra region that ive seen and again a few in Sydney, but i really wanted to know which one was the best to look at.

also, what sort of price should i expect to pay? ideally, id want a 1998/1999 model but am hindered by which model to choose!

I paid $12000 for my 98 1.8t passat... seems like from what u read that the v6 is more reliable than the 1.8t....
