I'm really pleased with the results and for the money, sounds way better than it should. TBH, I've spent twice this before and not got as good results.

Top thread... Have you been able to audition/compare to the dynaudio option? I used to do my own stereos (with a talented mate) but time/kids/house... find it a lot easier to tick a box these days and avoids lease hassels, but still, would feel better knowing you need to throw some $$$ and effort to get close

What headunit have you got there clip? RCD510?, its got an inbuilt amp, much better than a RCD310.

Have you got BT? If so, RNS510's the way to go. Ebay is your friend ...... especially our Lithuanian friend .....

Also, bring the Passat round so we can have a look with VCDS. Provided you've got the correct steering wheel controller we can have flappy paddles in there ....... happens I have the tools needed and a flat bottomed DSG paddle wheel handy .....

    Thanks for your reply clip.

So would you have split the rear output to drive the sub then?

I had a 2006 Passat and I don't know if things have changed, but the 2006 Passat had really weak speakers compared to my '06 Caddy and the Eos. My 2011 Caddy has speakers that feel similar to what's in the Eos.

I've had RNS510 / RCD510 in the Passat and the sound didn't change. I wonder if they continued to use the 50c speakers in the Passat.

Anyway - I am looking at retaining the stock unit for my new Caddy, I have some aftermarket speakers at home but I would love to somehow get better low frequency clarity from the system. Thanks for giving me something to think about!

yep. The speakers I pulled out of the Passat are same as the ones I pulled out of the '08 Tig. Not sure about what goes in other models though sorry (other than Dynaudio).

yes. I love dyanaudio gear, in fact I run a set of Focus 110's at home. TBH, it's really splitting hairs. Jumping back and forwards they sound different to each other, but both sound great. If the Dyn's option weren't such a crazy price, I might have been tempted. Although the GM's just have this amazing imaging that I couldn't hear with the Dyn's and probably just a tad more detail -partiulalry obvious when listening to acoustic and vocals via a cd (not mp3). The Dyn's still need a sub with them too - IMO. But they are quality gear no doubt and sound great - to me. My brother in-law just bought a new Jeep Limited thing and it has this massive sounding system - 12" sub in the back, what looks like 8" speakers in the doors and makes plenty of American sounding noise (no offence guys) and loads of big loose bottom end. I'm sure lot's of people would pick that over anything I would ever have in my car though

    .....
Ah, that would be the difference. Yes have bluetooth too. I tried to find the Lithuanian guy on ebay, but all he seemed to have were some units that were noted as second hand?

Hertz are a favourite too. I looked at that space in the boot, would be perfect spot for a sub.

    Got your order in yet?

I'm itching to do my front stage but I know I shouldn't spend the money!!

I'm leaning towards Hertz Mille 3-way's, Audison LRx4.1k, Dynamat Extreme, and maybe an Audison Bit Ten.... but I reckon my Wife would smash me for it if she noticed. Subwoofer is definitely too obvious, and I don't think the under seat Pioneer would keep up with the front stage....

Maybe if I start stashing a little cash here and there she won't notice! haha!

I really want to see how the car sits with Eibach Pro Kit springs too..
