WTF?!?! It needs to learn your driving style before it settles down... A DSG in a demo is not going to feel completely refined to anyone!DSG unrefined at low speeds

I also noticed that the car pictured had Park Assist, but no mention of this fantastic toy was mentioned at all, not in options fitted or the review itself.

Perhaps I am biased because I have one on order... but given the tone of the article I would have thought it would get 4 stars??

Also love how they claim the looks are dated.
Of course they are dated, the new model is due out next year according to all the web chatter.
This is why i prefer reading about people's experiences on forums rather than relying on car reviews to find out in depth detail about a car.

Don't know if I'd disagree with the jurno about that Rocket.
My A3 hasn't learned my driving style after 3 years in that regard.
At walking pace around carparks etc it still hunts a bit and jerks.
Maybe that's what he's refering to?
The 6cyl Passat maybe smoother in this regard

How different can your driving style be in a carpark? I thought the article was quite complimentary, even going as far as saying the DSG was a "great piece of kit". I'm not sure if the DSG learns your driving style or if it just has a few personality issues of its own. I have no real hassles with the DSG in my car but it certainly is not as smooth as the better "conventional" automatics at walking pace.
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.
agree with highlander - DSG is never going to be as smooth as your traditional automatic box - but that's the nature of the equipment - a traditional manual box isn't smooth around a carpark either.

Maybe I expressed it incorrectly
I love the DSG and have ordered a new R36 because of the DSG over competitors offering only Autos or manuals.
But my impression is that the DSG box is still in it's "early" stage of development.
I also wonder about it's longevity and cost of repair in a few years meaning some cars may be scrapped early because of the cost of repairs.
That's only my impression of course as these gearboxes may prove bulletproof.
But other than the jerkyness at carpark speeds it is an amazing gearbox and I'm happy to "suffer" some of it's quirks
