    118 TSI Fuel Range

    Hi all,

My Passat 118TSI arrives in January (woohoo!).

Question, with the 70 litre tank what is the average km's you would travel before having to re-fuel?

I am hoping that it is much better than my 400km's in my current Honda Prelude.

    Cheers.

It totally depends on how & where you drive.

I assume the Passat 118TSI is the 1.8 litre?

I have the same engine in my Skoda Octavia M6. The Skoda weighs about 1400kg & has a 55L fuel tank and it has 108,000km on the odo. It was run-in "with vigour" but not thrashed. It doesn't burn oil. I've had a bluefin ECU remap & I run Shell 98ron because I'm addicted to shopper-dockets.

The worst I've ever got out of an individual tank is 7.9L/100; the best is 6.0L/100. I average 6.7L/100km. The most I've ever got out of it is 850km from 54L.

Assuming that the extra weight of the Passat gives you ~8L/100km you can count on getting a regular 800km+ after the vehicle is run-in.

Don'y try for good fuel economy in the first few thousand km. Concentrate on getting some pressure behind the rings so that it beds-in nicely. You'll also find that the fuel economy improves after 10,000km.

Use 1/3-2/3 throttle & get the turbo boosting a bit. Don't rev the bejeesus out of it but don't let it lug either. Accelerate briskly up to speed & then take foot totally off throttle & let it over-run as it slows. Don't use cruise control for the first 2000-3000km. Don't let it drop into 6th for the first 1000km.

I don't believe in "drive it like you stole it" but I also don't believe in babying the engine either.

I get around 10l/100km in bad stop/start traffic.
On the open road it quickly drops to about 6.5l/100km.

These figures are using 98RON fuel

Hi, I have a 118tsi and regularly get 650-700 kms per tank on normal traffic.
My current economy is 9.2l/100 and on trips down to Canberra I have reached 5.7l/100.
For the size of the car it's economy is fantastic you can't go wrong.
    I don't drive like a granny either..
