Hi all, i asked a while back about how to tell the difference between the 2 TDI models of passat, and was under the impression that the 125kw model has the TDI badge on the boot, but after visiting the local dealer, i test drove a 125kw passat with no badge. the dealer told me it was 125kw but i have no other way of telling that is was. and it was a 2007 model sedan.
anyone got any ideas? or was this the way they came?
also where are the compliance plates on them, i looked in the boot but couldnt find one
the first few letters of the engine number would tell you what engine code it is.
Also yeah the build sticker on the car somewhere or the one in the service schedule would tell u how many kw as above
so what is the engine code for the 103 and 125?
i can then check this out
my 125kw engine is coded BMN
take a picture of the sticker (it should be in the boot under the floor) and post it here we'll tell you what it is if all else fails. theres a few different engine codes for the 103 and 125's if i remember correctly.
2x Caddy, 1x Ducato
i also see that there are different wheels between the 2 models, 16" on the 103 and 17" on the 125
Try this link
VIN Decoder
It appears to be correct when comparing the data in the inside of my car service schedule. I note it does not include dealer fit items like the Bluetooth and ipod adapter... but that is nor surprising

The vin # only tells you that your car is a vw passat, where and when it was made and its serial #. If you want to see what is in your specific car look at the sticker in the boot as i already said.
