I now have a VIN and a build date of 14/01/2023

It's awaiting allocation to a ship, so it's sitting on the dock in Spain .... I'll check regularly to see when it leaves there.

VWA dealers can see what the shipping status is, us customers can only see when its actually booked and/or loaded on a ship. +- 3 weeks from offloading in Aus to delivery.

I tracked the T-Roc Style my daughter got in November this way with the same link from Flipperdog above.

thanks but is that when it’s on a boat though . Is there somewhere that you can see if it’s at the dock waiting for boat transport

Hopefully it gets on a ship pretty quickly. My Mk8 R sat 6wks in Bremerhaven waiting for a ship and then took over 11wks to arrive into Brisbane. Finally take delivery next Wednesday.

I took a grid edition for a test drive yesterday - black without sunroof. New vehicle(not a demonstrator), in-stock and ready to go. Hasn’t even been properly pd’d yet.

    Hmmmm…. Makes the right noises

Black looks great, but those mirror caps would need to be colour coded. Sales manager said they could sort that for me prior to delivery.

I prefer the look of the grid edition over the “proper” R because I’ve always liked the Pretoria wheels. Would take them over the diamond finish ones on the “full fat” R. I also quite like the fleece seats - I don’t mind leather at all, but the fleece is super comfy.

Compared to my current T-Roc….. Wouldn’t miss the sunroof - mine is never open as it’s too noisy (I have racks fitted all the time for my surf ski and road bike), but would maybe miss the heated seats in early morning (pre-dawn) trips to the river in winter when I go paddling. The beats sound is ooookay, but I could live without it (it’s not in the same universe as the B&O system in our A4). Blind spot assist…no prob, likewise rear cross-traffic assist. Not sure there is much else different, feature wise that is….

The trade-in offer I was given was extremely attractive. We are repeat customers with our local VW/Audi dealer, and they are generous when dealing with us. The price included 5 year service plan and tinting of the front windows.

It’d be hard to let my current one go - I like it a lot and at the end of the day it does 99% of what I want - it just doesn’t have the X factor that the R has - probably a lot of it comes down to exhaust note. My son fires up his Polo GTi and I love the sound of it. Since I installed the chip in mine, performance is really good. We’re down around early 6’s for 0-100, and while it’s not in the same league as the R, realistically I seldom use full acceleration anyway - I’m a cruisy guy It does flesh out the torque through the midrange though, which is what I was after, and which the R has in spades.

Got some thinking to do this weekend!
    Cheers

Most T-Roc R Grid Editions sold n August/July/Sep are in Australia already now. I don't think you can order 1 in it was a limited edition to ease supply issues on the full fat R.

Had mine for a few months now. It is black with no sunroof but has the Beats stereo in it. I am not built for sunroofs!
Highly recommend getting the windows tinted and if you have music on file, pick up a USBC stick. The Samsung one, whilst not a thumb drive is small enough that you don't knock it.
Having driven "Red" cars most my life, this is a bit of a change. It is a silly little truck!! Makes you laugh when you drive it!
No, I wasn't supposed to buy it, but I always liked the look of the RVR Hyper Sports Gear and this is in a similar vein.
The salesman told me what they were due to have delivered with no sunroofs, over the next 6 months. When I worked out it was already on a ship, I asked for the name and he showed me on the computer. I am not sure I listened to him after that for a few minutes, I was too busy trying to find where the ship was through marinetraffic.com. It was a Hoegh ship also.
I will try and put up a picture up when I have better computer access.
