    WTB: Wheels/Rims 17"-18" 5x100, for MK4 Golf...

    Hi,
I'm looking to buy some wheels/rims, mainly looking at 17"-18", to fit on a MK4 Golf, so has to be 5x100 stud pattern, (not sure about spacers/adapters yet). So far liking VW/Audi/Euro looking rims, something I can paint black is ok, no crazy chrome business.

PS - Prefer a package with tyres, but def not a deal breaker for the right price.
PPS - Only running standard suspension & guards, so something that fits a mk4 without damage is a must.

    Any help/leads/info would be great!

    Thanks in advance,

probably best to get some reps from the likes of tempe tyres.
there mk4 r32 reps look the goods, 18x8et35 with some 225/40s in a package from them and ull be set.
look like stock wheels, half the price of the real deal, and slightly better specs

Haha, funny you should say that! I was going there today to check those exact ones out! I ended up going out to Top Ten Tyres seeing as the weather cleared up, just for the drive, didn't find anything though. I might head to TT tomorrow. They have 2 types available on the website, I think they're labeled: gen 4 and gen 4.5. Any preferences?

    yep theyll fit.

    I say these:
    but thats just me.
other option is to wait for some early S3/TT wheels to come up for sale, or bora sports or mk4 toccatas if you wanna stay orginal

Thanks, but I think I'll skip the 16's for now, I really want to get some 18's on there, fill up as much space as possible, hopefully don't have to lower, see how I go...

I can finally put up some images of the ride they'll be going on...

They're only 14's on there at the moment, so jumping up to 17's or 18's will look quite different!

I didn't want to have to buy brand new, but I'm leaning towards these R32 Reps, but paint them black (satin) myself before they put the rubber on them... possibly darker tail lights and badges as well...

Also, quality of rubber? I know you can get tyres as cheap as the $80/tyre Triangle's, are they going to be THAT bad? or am I better off biting the bullet & looking for a really good deal on something decent at around $150/tyre?

Put it this way: You can either buy the sh*tty tyres and LEARN how cheap tyres effect your ride quality/road noise/GRIP etc. and then end up paying more than the money you saved by stepping up to some proper tyres OR you can buy good tyres straight up and perhaps not end up knowing how good they are simply because you've skipped the cheapies.

People too often discount the importance of tyres for the sake of saving $100-$200.

..stepping up to some proper tyres..
OK, you're probably right, just thought I'd get some feedback. Hill starts and taking off in the wet, they're usually the main areas where I notice the difference between **** & decent tyres. ... So, I'll also need suggestions on what DECENT (reasonably priced) tyres I should be looking for, brand/model, that will go on 17x7 to 18x8 sized rims. I've heard people talk about Kumho KU31's or similar?..
