    2 Suspension Coils MK1 wanted

Hiya, anyone in victoria got 2 front suspension coils for an MK1? My mechanic seems to think there are none around. He is modifying a set he bought and that is setting off some alarm bells but maybe I'm over reacting...

That's usually my policy Stanton, but he couldn't find any front shock springs that fit so he tried a cut and weld, which didn't work and now he's trying another one. Meanwhile, I'm trying to source some on here to save myself some money, him some time and my car some potentially unnecessary cut and paste.

Have you tried Matt at Camden GTI - 0423 051 737. He's in Sydney but might know someone local to you.
Nick at Volkspares near Canberra has a couple of cabby's he's wrecking but he might be keeping the parts for his daughter's cabby. Might be worth ringing him - 0412 345 126.

    Cheers

What's wrong with the set that are on the car?

I hope he's not cutting and welding springs together. Even I know that's a really stupid thing to do (and I've done a lot of stupid things to cars).

Thanks Paul! I tried GTI Imports (sunno who I talked to) but I'll give Volkspares a call too. - I have no idea how my mechanic is modifying the springs, but it is a little concerning. He says my springs are seized. Would be best to find the right ones from another car. Nightphotographer is keeping his cabby as rolling shell.

Check with your mechanic that he said seized as springs don't seize but shocks do. If the shocks are seized then the car would be almost undrivable so I'm puzzled about what your mechanic is doing.

How well do you trust him? Reason I'm asking is I know a few women who have had work done on their cars that wasn't needed just because they didn't understand anything mechanical. My mum was ripped off big time until she told me what her mechanic was doing.
