Update my 2017?

I've been thinking about updating my 2017 Arteon to a 22 or 23 model. I haven't been able to find much about what changes VW have made since mine was manufactured, are there many? Have they made any good upgrades to the electronics etc? Any particularly desirable changes in the newer models?

From what I understand, they have ventilated seats, the updated v4 ea888 engine (higher injector pressure, exhaust manifold changes), some different badges and slightly different bumpers (worse IMO).

From my perspective, the benefits of buying a MY22/MY23 is mostly the newer car aspect: less kms, remaining warranty, less wear and tear.. though the warranty also brings hesitancy to unleash performance tuning!

On the downside, I think there are some coding difficulties, MiB3 and additional emission restrictions with the newer models - eg. not sure if you can disable stop/start like the MY17-19 models and I think they come with a MAF... I really dislike MiB3 in my wife's MY22 Tiguan vs MiB2.5 in my MY18 Arteon

Thanks nermal, that's very helpful. Mine is low km so perhaps I'll just give it a birthday. Is APR still a good option for a stage one tune for a 2017? (I'm in Perth). I didn't know you could disable the wretched stop/cuss/start so thanks for the heads up. I'll have to find my OBD thingy.

No worries - I have the RacingLine tune (ECU & TCU) and am very happy with it. RacingLine used to be part of VW Group (VW Racing), but were spun off in the wake of dieselgate, so they know VWs intimately. I assume APR is good, but have no first hand experience.

There's a simple OBDEleven "app" to turn start/stop off. I diff'd my backup before/after and it essentially sets the min and max ambient temperature for start/stop to 50°C.. so it *might* briefly kick in if the outside temperature ever happens to reach exactly 50°C

Also, do yourself a big favor and get a throttle controller if you don't already have one. It eliminates most of the lazy/sluggish delay between mashing the go pedal and the engine responding - makes a big difference IMO.
