It has wireless/mobile app and anti-theft mode, but not custom throttle maps (AFAIK).. currently on sale for $261 at Autobarn:

I've never bothered to try the anti-theft feature - one more thing to have to enable/disable when exiting/entering your car. I'm happy that the factory immobiliser will do a sufficient job.

Regarding the wireless/mobile side of things along with custom mapping, I'm yet to be convinced that is required and you pay more for features that you are unlikely to use. As both Lucas and I mentioned, these devices are a set and forget proposition - once you've found the setting you like, you are unlikely to touch the unit again and aside from enjoying how much nicer the car is to drive, you will forget it is even installed.

Here's a pic showing just how small the HikeIT X5/X9 is - very easy to stow away.

Yeah, you're right... I tend to over-analyze these things and over spend too

I just purchased myself a evcX Throttle Controller for VOLKSWAGEN ARTEON but can't for the life of me find the the plug. Anyone else has experience with this?

It connects to the right side of the electronic throttle pedal assembly. There's a plastic undertray beneath the dash that you'll need to unscrew to obtain easy access - that's probably why you can't see the connection.

Does the undertray look like this? I've had that out a few times before (dead pedal upgrade, legroom hack), replaced it for the legroom hack.

I'm keen to hear how it all goes once you get it installed - been considering the evcX

Is it just me, or are all these devices marketed heavily toward 4x4's locally? Very hard to find local VW (or performance) reviews.

Yeah I reckon it's definitely there. I was able to remove the 2 torx screws but feel like I'm missing something else since the underdash plastic is still not coming off.

Worst case I'll take it to my local shop.

There's several discussions on the Passat and VW/Skoda206TSI facebook groups on throttle controllers. Most use the earlier model non-wireless EVC or the HikeIT. Same/same performance wise.
